Talent Assessment Fairness Standard™
Candidates are already being evaluated. The platform does not add pressure to that, and it never assumes faster is better.
- Faster is not better. Speed is never treated as evidence of talent.
- A candidate may request additional time under a policy that is set before the assessment begins.
- An approved extension never reduces a score, readiness or recommendation, and never creates a negative flag.
- Efficiency™ is a separate evidence dimension about effective use of time and resources — not about speed.
- Authorized breaks and authorized meeting time do not silently consume active assessment time.
- Timed Judgment Scenario™ is used only where response speed is genuinely part of the competency, and is disclosed before it begins.
- Finishing early never triggers additional manufactured work.
- Authorized adjustments and accommodations are honored and are not visible as negative evidence.
Assessment timing policy
- Standard additional-time requests
- Up to 2 requests of 15 minutes each. The candidate must ask explicitly; time is never added silently.
- Configured ceiling
- Where an employer configures it, standard additional time may reach a maximum of 60 minutes beyond the original assessment period.
- Effect on results
- None. An approved extension never reduces a score, readiness or recommendation, never creates a negative flag, and is never read as poor efficiency.
- Timed Judgment Scenario™
- Used only where response speed is genuinely part of the competency. The candidate is told before starting that the window is fixed, that timing is part of the evidence, and that ordinary analytical extensions do not apply.
Sessions, breaks and meetings
- Assessment Session Control™ allows save, pause and resume without losing work.
- Authorized breaks are available, and taking one is never negative evidence.
- ASCEND Calendar™ and ASCEND Attention™ raise a JOY™ reminder up to 15 minutes before an assessment-related check-in, so a candidate can save, pause, attend and resume. Authorized meeting time does not consume active assessment time.
- When all required work is complete, the candidate reviews it, confirms, and submits. Active assessment time stops and the assessment is Candidate Complete. No additional work is added.
- A candidate who cannot complete within the available time may record Need More Time. The work already submitted is preserved and reported as-is, and the pathway is not scored as a failure.
Employer Fairness Standard™
Employers accept these commitments before candidates are invited.
- Assess job-relevant requirements only.
- Apply materially consistent rules to similarly situated candidates.
- Do not alter criteria after seeing candidate identity.
- Honor authorized adjustments and accommodations.
- Do not treat permitted breaks or approved extensions as negative evidence.
- Do not assume faster completion means greater talent.
- Protect candidate information and share it only with authorized reviewers.
- Do not request inappropriate or protected inferences from JOY™.
- Do not use Talent Assessment as an autonomous final hiring authority.
- Retain human responsibility for every employment decision.
How JOY™ speaks to candidates
JOY may
- Calmly remind a candidate that a break is available.
- Explain the timing policy, including how to request additional time.
- Give a meeting reminder up to 15 minutes before a scheduled check-in.
- Confirm what has been saved and what remains.
JOY never says
- “Hurry”
- “You're too slow”
- “You're falling behind”
- “Other candidates finished faster”
- “You should be finished”
